“I love Brazil. Any country that has a public holiday for the best part of a week so the entire nation can party gets my vote!”
I was lucky enough to spend a couple of months in Brazil as part of a big backpacking trip around Central and South America back in 2009. This included visits to Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, Argentina and finally, Brazil. Why the love for Brazil, well it has everything you need to have a good time with incredibly friendly and happy people who seem to excel in making the most out of life. It’s fair to say visiting Latin America has become a bit of an addiction and since then I’ve returned every year and visited many other places including Guyana, Cuba and the Galapagos – it really is a region that has everything!
Having travelled to all 7 continents my stand out trips still have to be the ones to Antarctica, the Falkland Islands & South Georgia which gave me the polar bug and places I can’t recommend highly enough! The breathtaking beauty of the untouched natural environment combined with the opportunities you have to get up close to the wildlife is something very, very special! The same goes for the Arctic where I was mesmerized by the Northern Lights in Norway and amazed by the variation in the wildlife and scenery that I got to witness in Svalbard.
It’s great that despite now living back in the UK, I still have the opportunity to deal with these regions on a daily basis. For me travel is one of the best forms of education and I really enjoy working in a role that allows me to pass on some of the things I have learned during my adventures.
