Tortuguero Extension

You will travel from San Jose, Costa Rica’s capital, away from the city and into the protected wilderness that is Tortuguero National Park. To arrive at your hotel, you will navigate along the canals and pass through Tortuguero Village. At your hotel you will receive a welcome cocktail and enjoy lunch to settle in and discuss tours for the coming days. Perhaps relax by the pool to finish your afternoon.

Today begins with a boat or canoe tour on the canals of Tortuguero National Park. After breakfast, there are a broad range of tours on offer from taking a hike through the jungle, kayaking, canopy tours and guided tours of Green Turtle Museum. Tours are dependant on seasonal weather and will be confirmed at your accommodation on arrival.

Choose from the broad array of tours on offer from day two or relax in a hammock at the beach or by the pool. If you choose to explore Tortuguero National Park once more, be sure to be on the look out for toucans, slaty tailed trogons, frogs and parrots. Should your visit take place in July, be sure not to miss witnessing turtles nesting and hatching at night on the beach.

You will depart your accommodation, stopping briefly in Tortuguero town for lunch before travelling to La Fortuna via Arenal. Famous for the Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges near Lake Arenal Dam, Arenal provides two diverse ecosystems to explore during an afternoon and twilight tour. The lowland and highland rainforests collide to provide a habitat for a diverse range of birdlife and animals including toucans, crested guans, sloths, tapirs, spider monkeys and even jaguars. Afterwards you will be transferred to your accommodation in La Fortuna, your final destination.
