Follow the path of the Inca’s from Cusco, the former capital of the Incan Empire, back to the shores of Lake Titicaca. There legends say the Incan empire began when Wiricocha, the Incan sun god, rose up from these waters and sent his children off to explore Peru. You will travel across the Altiplano from Cusco to Puno by bus, stopping at Andean villages and visiting pre-Incan architecture at Raqchi Archaeological Complex. In Puno you will stay in superior accommodation before taking a speedboat tour of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world. There you will visit Taquile Island and Santa Maria-Llachon, where you can learn about the local’s handwoven textiles be taught the ancient language of Quechua. Finally, you will visit the last remaining floating islands of the Uros people before returning to Puno.

Board your tourist bus in Cusco, the former capital of the Incan Empire, and travel across the Altiplano to Puno. Along the way, you will stop in the Andean towns of Pucara and Andahuaylillas and at Raqchi Archaeological Complex where you will see examples of pre-Incan architecture. On arrival in Puno, which lies on the shores of Lake Titicaca, you will be transferred you to your hotel for the night.
Today you will head to the port of Puno to board a speedboat to visit various islands on Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world.
The first stop is Taquile Island, where you will hike along a pre-Incan trail before meeting the locals and learning about their handwoven clothing and textiles. You will then visit Santa Maria-Llachon, a small Quechuan speaking community who will teach you their language and prepare a traditional feast cooked underground known as Pachamanca. You can then choose to kayak along the coast of Llachon. After lunch we will head to the Uros Islands, the floating islands of the Uros people. There you can see their traditional homes and way of life and choose to ride on a reed boat. We will then head back to Puno and transfer you back to your hotel.
Spend what time you have left exploring Puno before your transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Once the home of a silver mine, there’s many jewellery shops where you can buy keepsakes or you can take a wander along the stone tiled mall and main street of Jr. Lima.
